Chase Away Cold and Flu


With winter around, it's feast time for all the virus and bacteria. It infects and spreads easily esp., kids, their prominent targets... Oomph dealing with common cold, how annoying it is:( emptying tissue boxes, gulping antibiotics and the sickening soups...The whole week feeling dull and ill...
I share from my experience a few practical and reliable methods to ease off. It's safe for your toddlers too:)
Lemon and Honey:Mostly considered as a weight-loss drink,It also cleanses our body and provides Vitamin C to fight cold. photo 1

Mix honey and lemon juice with warm water and drink it in the morning in empty stomach.


Garlic: Garlic possess anti-cancer properties, Eating it raw helps fight cold 
photo 2efficiently.But you can shallow fry with skin then peel off to eat. Adding it to cooking and food regularly boosts up immunity.
photo 3Eggs: A rich source of protein, It helps keep your body strong. Spice it up with pepper and it can relieve you from congestions and breathe freely. Kids can be given an egg everyday for a healthy balanced meal.
Keep house dust free: Dirt can pile up in corners, if unnoticed can trigger allergies and infections. These can become carriers of virus and other microbes. Make sure the house is ventilated, carpets are cleaned and air is dirt free.
Drink liquids: Water- The Elixir of Life:) True!!! Staying hydrated is a must when sick. It helps in providing more oxygen and purifies the blood. Front image_drinking-waterDrink warm soups, ginger tea and a grandma recipe, having warm milk with turmeric and black pepper powder sure gives you a breath of relief.
Vapour rubs: Applying eucalyptus oil or camphor vapour rubs clears the phlegm and soothens throat. Its an easy relief for kids. Apply generously on the nose, neck, throat and back of the shoulder. For toddlers, rub on the sole of the feet and cover with socks for more warmth.
Steamers:Steamers work greatly to cure blocked noses and sinuses. Inhaling steam alleviates the nasal passage, however many don't like to sit patiently. In such cases even a small bowl of hot water is enough for quick relief.
We always hear it, 'Starve the fever and Stuff the cold', But if you are caught with both... Go for a  well-balanced healthy meal and Stay fit to fight them. Hope these tips work for you;)
