Taking Technology to a Different Direction: The Internet of Things

Broadband is a Human right! yes you heard it right. That's what has been declared by UN, and added the access to broadband as a basic fundamental right. Can you imagine a day without browsing or networking? Hell no! Our dependency on the internet is spiking day by day, that you regret more for losing your phone than getting a real injury.

In the coming years, our net streaming can delve greater depths and our appliances will be more intelligent than they are right now. If you ever try going Gadget-free (certainly you won't, yet if you do) your bizarre attempt will only leave you isolated or label you outdated. So Keep calm and Click on!

What is Internet of Things?
From being a humble web page, the internet has invaded to become part and parcel of our life. The next big pace for Netizens could only be, making our surroundings smarter too. And the party has already started!

We now have smart TVs, Wifi Cameras, Heart-rate trackers, thermostats and much more cueing in the list. Getting things done at the click of a device is what Internet Of Things (IoT) is all about.

In layman's terms, internet is tapped onto every device and object in our lives for a customized smart comfort. And the good news is you can do all this from your phone. So next time you don't have to go on an immortal search trail for car keys. Just tap the buttons and Voila, your engine is on.

How did IoT sprout up?
From being an experiment by a few programmers in 1980, IoT is now available in electronic gadgets, home appliances and even automation kits.

Nest’s Thermostat is by large the best in this field and recently been purchased by Google for a walloping $3.2 billion. Joining forces with Samsung, Nest and several other major corporations, a new Wi-Fi protocol called Thread is also expecting its launch to accommodate IoT devices.

Some other devices already in the market are Egg Minder Wink App-Enabled Smart Egg Tray that notifies owner of bad eggs and Lowe's Iris Home Management System that maintains your home security and safety. Nonetheless these applications have also received equal acclaim for their creativity.

The commercial 'big' thing:
Home security has improved much with DropCam’s Cloud enabled surveillance camera where you can easily monitor footages remotely from anywhere, archived on their cloud servers. You can now go care-free in your travels with constant updates from your doorstep.

Businesses are eyeing this future technology for earning more profits and satisfied customers. And awareness events held across the world like IotAsia2015 , scheduled in Singapore next year, only mirrors the growing demand for IoT.

And has its glitches too:
With the primary objective being intelligent and customized, the device security is not in par with the main features. Unless you set a strong password, there are possibilities for scam mails, phishing and hacking your appliance as a resource. You really have to set up a proper measure to make it worthy for the price you paid.

Despite its shortcomings, IoT can definitely open up new windows in technology and make big waves sooner. Get ready netizens to welcome your homes for a lot more smartness bundled with coziness!
